I ate vegetables this week - on purpose

It's no secret that I don't like to cook. I never have. Tim, however, likes to cook. He's not big on dishes, but really, who is? As time has gone on, we've resorted to eating out a lot. I realized not long ago that I had started eating out nearly every meal - breakfast, lunch, and dinner - nearly everyday. That's not healthy for the wallet OR the waistline. I am pretty organized about a lot of things. Why not try to start including some meal planning in my life? So, this week I bit the bullet and gave it a shot. So far, it hasn't been too bad. It sure is a lot easier than coming home after work and trying to dream up something to have for dinner that doesn't mean a trip to the store for an ingredient or two. Or, something that takes two hours to prepare which means dinner at 8:00.

So, here is my meal plan from this week (dinners only because who really cares that I ate an apple and cottage cheese for breakfast 3 days this week?):

Sunday - steak on the grill, broccoli, and baked potato
Monday - ham tetrazzini, salad, garlic toast
Tuesday - not home for dinner (leftovers for Tim)
Wednesday - chicken in the crock pot, mashed potatoes, green beans
Thursday - beef stroganoff, rice, salad
Friday - grilled cheese and tomato soup
Saturday - dinner at the in-laws'

Along with the meal plan, I also have stopped drinking caffeine. I have had a weird relationship with caffeine. I don't even like coffee or tea, so it's been soda. And, I can't think of many things I dislike more than diet soda - so it's all high test stuff for me. Something else not good for the waistline. I don't even drink that much caffeine. Basically 1 or 2 sodas a day (what better way to start the day than a Coke from McDonalds?). I know better than to drink anything with caffeine after lunch. I'll wake up a million times in the night if I do that. Lately, the caffeine has also started giving me some heartburn. So, it was time to stop. I've done this several times in my adult life and gradually, I'd drink some soda again and not feel too bad and then I'd be back to tge routine again. I'm not even going to say that won't happen again, because I'm sure it will. But, for right now, I'm not drinking caffeine. Today is my sixth day and I haven't suffered too much.
